fbt provider for non-root users ?

[I know that the following is _not_ recommended for normal usage...
the goal is to run a tstsuite without running it as user "root"]

What do I have to do to use the "fbt" provider from a non-"root" account ?
Currently such an attempt fails with "dtrace: failed to compile script
/dev/stdin: line 17: probe description fbt::: does not match any
probes" ...
